Protecting the Estuary - Update - 13.10.2009

As reported in June, Mr John Day, MLA, issued a Press Release reviving the plans of the Moore River Company to develop a reduced but still large town of 2,000 housing lots on the South Bank of the Moore River Estuary.

The Guilderton Community Assoociation advocates Ecologically Sustainable development, which will allow families form Perthand the central wheatbelt to continue to enjoy the estuary as the holiday place it has always been.  The GCA feels that despite the environmentally sympathetic language used by Mr Day  in his press release, the proposed devleopment is unsustainable as well as unnecessary.  Sustainable development of the Gingin Coast isrecommended in the Gingin Coast Structure Plan adopted by the WAPC in 2006 and the GCA supports this Plan and continues its efforts to have it implemented.
