Top Carpark Stairs - 04.01.2010

The GCA has been requesting that the Gingin Shire provide easy access between the top beach carpark and the bottom carpark for the last few years.  The GCA felt that such a link was important for a several reasons:

• To provide easy access to the river side of the bar from the top carpark, hence increasing the usefulness of the top carpark;
• To decrease the number of people making their own path down the side of the dune, an activity which is both dangerous and damaging to the environment; and
  
• To increase usage of the top carpark, hopefully easing congestion issues in the bottom carpark during peak periods.

In the final few months of 2009, the Gingin Shire was finally able to fulfill the GCA's request with the construction of a great staircase between the top carpark and the caravan park (see photos below).  This staircase was completed and opened in time for the Christmas period and certainly seemed to get a lot of use.
