This program has been active in the South West of the state since its inception in 2000 with a number of volunteers being engaged in promoting safe boating practices within the community. The program has recently been upgraded to reflect the current boating environment.
The role of the volunteer is not one of compliance; it is as the name suggests, to offer advice on marine safety issues and local knowledge to the general public that will assist in enduring a safe and pleasurable experience for those undertaking aquatic activities in your region.
If people are interested in learning more about this program they need to register their interest by contacting Maggie Brennan at the Department of Safety - Marine Safety by the 16th of April, 2010.
Once numbers have been received members of the Department will nominate a day to travel to Guilderton to meet with the volunteers and discuss the program.
